site of 68 Acre Road

68 Acre Road
68 Acre Road was where Robert James, his wife Ellen (neé Golder) and family lived for some years after 1893 until they moved to 12 Wyndham Road sometime after 1897. Sons William (1895) and Albert (1897) were born there. It is a fair assumption that the house was a small victoria terraced house, maybe like 85 Acre Road. The houses in this vicinity were demolished in the 1960s to make way for a hideous high-rise block of council flats. This in turn was demolished in the 1990s and low-rise housing put into its place. Opposite, these days, is Kingston Mosque. The above was photographed in September 2008.
